High Notes in First Position
Lesson 2.3 · First Position
The note locations on the high E string are the same as the low E string, but two octaves up. There are five notes in this range in first position, mostly used to play melodies. To reach the A on the high E string, stretch your hand over and use your pinky finger.

The top line of the staff is F, and the ledger lines above it spell FACE. Use this and the musical alphabet to identify the high notes.
